MIG Fit Up Welder

DESCRIPTION

In a fast-paced, manufacturing facility, the Fit-up Welder reads and uses blueprints, tape measure, square, appropriate MIG welding machine to fit-up, tack, and finish welding for mild steel products.  Requires shop math skills including knowledge of angles.  Requires knowledge of general shop practices and shop safety.  Must be able to recognize and measure various steel types and sizes.  Studies indicate that the noise from welding equipment exceed OSHA limitations during an 8-hour weighted average.  This position will require a hearing conservation baseline and entry into the hearing conservation program.  The use of hearing protection is a requirement of this position. Requires good oral communication skills, listening skills, and ability to learn. Works independently and in cooperation with other employees.   Operates forklift truck, overhead cranes and hoists.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Attendance- present at scheduled shift to perform assigned tasks.
  2. Comply with Shop and Department Safety Rules and practices.
  3. Safely operate MIG welding equipment, grinders, band saws, and pneumatic tools.
  4. Accurately read and interpret blueprints.
  5. Ability to fit-up, tack, and finish welding for mild steel and stainless-steel products within close tolerances.
  6. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for distances to 25 feet.
  7. Other duties may be assigned.

Layout Fabricator

DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Layout Supervisor, the Layout Fabricator is a detail-oriented, skilled employee who uses blueprints, tape measure, square, saw, punch, plasma cutter, break press, and shear to fabricate steel parts for production of food and battery handling equipment.  Daily, Layout Fabricators use shop math skills including knowledge of angles.  They recognize and measure steel of various types and sizes, use good oral communication skills, listening skills, and their ability to learn.  They apply their knowledge of shop safety at all times, i.e., when using standard shop tools, equipment, grinders and fork trucks.  The Layout Fabricator candidate must be able work independently and in cooperation with other employees and interact with all levels of management and supervision.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Accurately read and interpret blueprints.
  2. Comply with Shop and Department Safety Rules and practices.
  3. Accurately identify and measure steel from stock.
  4. Safely operate grinders, band saws, pneumatic tools, hydraulic presses, shears and break presses.
  5. Knowledge of Shop and Electrical Safety and safe equipment operating practices.
  6. Ability to learn new equipment and to accomplish one-of-a-kind and prototype layouts.
  7. Reading comprehension skills sufficient to understand written directions; shop math skills sufficient to accurately make basic calculations necessary to complete assigned jobs.
  8. Mechanical ability.
  9. Ability to focus with many distractions in a noisy work environment.
  10. Detail-oriented.
  11. Ability to work alone or with others and to interact with all levels of management.
