Job Description

The Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Intern must have a desire and willingness to learn and gain all the skills, abilities, and experience necessary to work constructively as part of a skilled team of Engineers who design Battery Handling Equipment and Food Processing Equipment.  The MTC Engineers design new products, identify improvements to existing products and perform continuous improvements to identify and capture annual cost savings based on individual goals.  MTC Design Engineers evaluate products, parts, and/or processes for cost efficiency and reliability to ensure project completion.  The Engineering Intern works with all team members of MTC to ensure that production is completed in a timely manner to engineering specifications.

 

Job Purpose

To train as a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer and develop the required level of skills, knowledge, experience and competence.

To ensure that expected levels of performance on the job are maintained throughout the internship.

 

Education and Experience

Currently enrolled, in good standing, in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering program

 

Essential Functions

  1. Study in the different phases of the manufacturing process to study effects of design in practical applications.
  2. Participate in continuous engineering design improvement efforts, efficiency and productivity of MTC.
  3. Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field, demonstrating an enthusiasm and willingness to achieve a high degree of competence.
  4. Take personal responsibility for your own Health & Safety at work AND to be aware of your actions in relation to the Health & Safety of others.
  5. Assist in providing technical support for manufacturing, service, installation and sales on an as needed basis.
  6. Knowledge of 3D CAD essential, Inventor preferred.
  7. Study industrial processes to determine where and how application of equipment can be made.
  8. Assist in engineering design and documentation for various projects as assigned by the Director of Engineering.
  9. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required in all production areas.
  10. Other duties may be assigned.
