DESCRIPTION

The Drafter prepares working layouts, solid models, and finished drawings of components, assemblies, panel layouts, or systems from specifications, prior layouts, well-defined sketches, models, or verbal instructions sufficient for detailing food handling and battery handling equipment. Candidate will design and distribute professional CAD drawings based on information gathered from internal and external customers.  Technical accuracy is of the utmost importance.  Candidate must become a subject matter expert and be able to provide technical information on MTC products and services.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Must possess Interpersonal skills with the ability to discuss problems with tact and diplomacy, and resolve logistical requirements related to the projects.
  2. Ability to design new products and redesign existing products.
  3. Highly proficient use of the latest AutoCAD platforms taking into account customer facilities, layout requirements, equipment specifications and design, per instructions from the MTC sales group and clients.
  4. Generate CAD drawings, solid models, and Bills of Material.
  5. Work with vendors to source new components.
  6. Create detailed piece part drawings that meet Engineering standards.
  7. Must be able to analyze and process required information to conclude whether the product meets the client’s specifications and required national standards.
  8. Ability to incorporate change notices.
  9. Review work on engineering designs for manufacturability, accuracy, and completeness.
  10. Significant education or experience creating 2D AutoCAD drawings using AutoDesk platforms.
  11. Experience in the application of common drafting standards.
  12. Provides technical support for sales, engineering, and manufacturing.
  13. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  14. Highly proficient use of all facets of the MS Office Suite and various business software programs.
  15. Performs mathematical calculations to work out detailed additions to specifications.
  16. Makes corrections, revisions, and changes to layouts as directed by the Engineer.
  17. Coordinates and works in conjunction with other drafters and engineers designing, laying out, or detailing same or related products.
  18. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  19. Attendance, present at scheduled shift to perform essential functions.
  20. Other duties may be assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Significant relevant technical experience in Mechanical Design/Drafting and Solid Modeling. Possess Problem Solving skills, Mechanical Aptitude, and familiarity with Manufacturing Processes. Possess Verbal and written Communication skills,.  Proficiency with AutoCAD and Inventor software preferred.
